UNDER the title "Aluminium in : Road Transport," the Northern Aluminium Co.. Ltd., Banbury. Oxon. has published an account of the part played by aluminium in the vehicle industry, both of which had their genesis in 1886. Extremely well illustrated. the bookle, cOnSiders the application of aluminium to alt types of road vehicle and deals with the design, fabrication; repair and maintenance of aluminium structures.

Sections dealing with goods and public service vehicles are comprehensive' and the value of light alloy is examined from every aspect. As a guide to the present state of progress in light-alloy-vehicle design, and as an introduction to the technique of using aluminium, the book is of great value.

Chapters dealing with the properties of the various alloys, the forms in which they are available, principles of design and methods of working light alloys will be welcomed by many bodybuilders.

From Alum!nium Laboratories, Ltd., Banbury, comes the second "Develop ment Bulletin," describing and illustrating the fundamentals of body construction using light-alloy materials. This edition, No. II, deals with the design and fabrication of a typical goods body, an earlier edition, reviewed in "The Commercial Motor" on November 17, having dealt with the construction of a single-deck bus body.

In the 23 pages of the latest edition are carefully labelled photographs and drawings, details of materials and fabrication methods, and a description of the method of assembling a 154t. 5-in. by 7-ft. '1},-itt. body, weighing less than 61 cwt., for a 7-ton lorry.
