NORTHERN IRELANDbased Bradmount has been fined £1,000 for overloading offences.
In a Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) prosecution, Dungannon Magistrates' Court was told how in December 2012 enforcement officers directed a two-axle vehicle operated by the firm to the department's weighbridge in Cookstown.
On weighing the vehicle, it was found to be overweight by 431kg (26.1%) on the first axle, 502kg (22.3%) on the second axle, and 1,333kg (38.1%) on the GVVV. As a result, the vehicle was stopped from moving until the
load had been adjusted to the legal limits.
The company, based in Moneymore, Co Londonderry, was fined for using a vehicle in a dangerous condition, and the driver of the vehicle was awarded three penalty points in relation to the offence.
Bradmount was also ordered to pay £16 court costs and a £15 offender levy. The charges were brought under the Road Traffic (NI) Order 1995.
