in Since 1984 MPs have awarded themselves a car allowance of 68.2p per mile, and receive a salary.
How can this be justified when many hauliers operating 38-tonne lorries receive a lower rate than this?
The Road Haulage Association was recently told by the Office of Fair Trading that it could not publish benchmark rates and yet London black cab drivers charge a set fee per mile. There is obviously no sign of the free market in the UK. Mary Kinsella CE Kinsella Traction, Ely, Cambs.
