Having read Matthew Collishaw's letter (CM 18-24 July), might I suggest that he applies for admission as a student at the Institute of Transport Administration, 32 Palmerstone Road, Southampton, as this will give him at least a start.
I am an associate member of the IOTA and I feel he would benefit from being a member and meeting others at institute meetings.
Perhaps I could warn Matthew that even after being in the transport industry since 1971 with HGV1, PSV2 and CPC passes as well as the Institute of Advanced Motorists examination for both light vehicles and artics and ROSPA tests, I find it is still difficult to get the right breaks.
All my qualifications have been gained by sheer determination to succeed. Even if it takes 10 years to get on, remember that each test or course you complete will be another feather in your cap.
