Mi Creditors of Whitehead Trailers, in receivership since May, will learn this month if the company is able to pay any of the debts it owes.
More than 100 creditors have been invited to a meeting in Leeds on 27 August by receiver KPMG. The meeting could decide to wind up the Barnsleybased firm which KPMG says was a victim of the economic climate.
Production stopped on 29 May at Whitehead Trailer Sales. Its sister company Whitehead Holdings rented out trailers — these were repossessed by finance companies.
If Whitehead is not wound up it is still possible a buyer could he found, but KPMG thinks this is unlikely: In the present climate no one wants to take on building trailers," says a spokeswoman.
