• Mack importer Western Trucks of Preston has had its busiest three months for seven years, despite not having sold a vehicle in the UK for nearly two years. Exports of parts and completed trucks are keeping order books buoyant, says managing director Tony Babola.
Although there was much interest in the Mack Ultra-liner run by Somerset-based haulier Paul Maggs (CM 11-17 July), recession-hit owner-drivers are reluctant to commit themselves to the Z64,000-plus needed to buy one of the American wagons.
