I WAS sorry to see the recent disappointing results of ERF Holdings. This again shows the British motor industry strugglin in these depressing times.

Could we have the start of another Fodens situation? One hopes not, but the recent purchase of White Motors by A. B. Volvo makes you wonder ho‘■ long the true independent companies in the industry can hope to stay that way.

Will they be gobbled up into some giant consortium where their once-proud name become: like many others — a relic of the past.
