GULATIONS extending and updating the existing legislation on .1 carrying of dangerous substances in road tankers have been laid fore Parliament by Transport Secretary Norman Fowler (CM, gust 15).

They were drawn up by the alth and Safety Commission der the Health and Safety at Drk Act, after consultation with iustry, trades unions, local thorities and Government dertments.

Also included in the new regulations is a requirement for the training of drivers in safety procedures. These regulations are the first of three sets designed to extend and update existing dangerous substance transport legislation, with the exception of radioactive substances and explosives.

The others will cover packaging and labelling of dangerous substances both for supply and transport purposes, and their conveyance as packaged goods.
