A LANDOWNER'S reluctance to confirm coach parking arrang ments in writing, led to an operator's application for a psv liceru being adjourned by the Eastern Traffic Commissioners at Can bridge.
Mildenhall Coach Services Ltd were seeking a licence for one single-decker, but commissioners chairman Ken Peter said he was satisfied on only five of six matters.
The company and its directors were of good repute, and the professional competence of the transport manager, R. H. Evans, was not in doubt. Maintenance arrangements were acceptable, and the Commissioners were satisfied the company understood the requirements in relation to drivers' hours and records.
They were also satisfied about the financial standing of the company, which left the matter of an operating centre.
In evidence, Mr Evans said ti centre specified in the applic tion was his home address, b the coach was parked in the yai belonging to a friend whom had known for ten years.
Adjourning the hearing, IV Peter said those arrangement were the only stumbling block i the way of an agreement. He ac vised Mr Evans to impress o the landowner that an agreā¬ ment could be drawn up whic would allow either party to with draw at an agreed notice, an' that in any event the licenc, could be granted for a maximun of five years only.
