BY CHANGING to a new design of lightweight Tidd Strongbox, Hawley's Bakeries Ltd, of Ruislip, Middlesex, is now able to carry 600 more loaves of bread than was previously possible in a Bedford KC 7.5 tonne-gross vehicle.
Called the Litebox, the new body has been made lighter by incorporating thinner section Glasonit glass-plastic-plywood laminate panels for the sides and front. As with the normal Strongbox no internal pillars are needed and so there are no obstructions when sliding the self-stacking plastic trays used by the bakery, in and out.
