• The Loch Lomond steamer, Maid of the Loch, has been transferred from the Caledonian Steam Packet Co. Ltd. to Walter Alexander and Sons (Midland) Ltd., bus operators in the Scottish Bus Group.
The shipping company has also relinquished the Kyle-Kyleakin ferry service, which has been transferred to Highland Omnibuses Ltd. All three companies are part of the Scottish Transport Group and Mr. P. M. Thomas, chairman of STG, has stated that they are merely routine changes for administrative convenience.
• Northumberland County Council has considered the question of subsidizing rural bus services where necessary and has asked the Ministry of Transport to state, as soon as possible, the conditions whereby it will bear half the cost of proposed subsidies. The council will, in the meantime, consider applications from operators on their merits.
