Commission will modify fares in London in accordance with the statement by the Minister of Transport in the House of Commons on June 16. The " standstill " order issued by the

Minister on April 15 will then cease to apply Ordinary road fares which were raised last March by more than the general .proportion are to be reduced so that they bear no more than the standard increase. For example, the lid. fare, where in some instances it was sub-standard before March 2, was raised to 3d. It will be reduced to 2d. at the end of this month.

Other reductions will be as follows: The present 5d., 6d., 8d., 9d. and 11d. fares will be changed to 3d., 5d., 6d., 8d, and 9d. respectively, where they were imposed to replace sub-standard rates.

The London Transport Executive has stated that whilst the number of substandard fares is large, it Should be emphasized that the reductions will not be overall and that the majority of charges now in force will be unchanged.
