CROFT, 114.A., who is secretary of the Public Transport Association, is shortly to leave that body to take up the position of Director of the Hotels and Restaurants Association of Great Britain. Many of his friends in the industry, whilst wishing to congratulate him on this important appointment, will greatly regret the loss.

Mr. A. S. DE. MELLO, managing director of Gwalior and Northern India Transport Co., Ltd., and of the Jumna Valley Road and Rail Transport Co.,

td., has recently visited England. His companies have been using Perkins oil engines for more than 14 years, and during his visit he gave further orders for power units of this make. Mr. de Mello is also president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

MR. W. C GIBBS and Ma, A. H. M. JACOB have been appointed directors of Henley's Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd. Mr. Gibbs has been general manager of the company since May, 1942; before

that, he was assistant general manager. Mr. Jacob was secretary of the parent company, W. T. Henley's Telegraph Works Co., Ltd., for over 20 years, but recently resigned that position on joining the board of the latter company.

Ma. L. C RAWLENCE has been COopted to the Council of the S.M:M.T., to fill the vacancy created by MR. B. KING being appointed as the Co-opted Importers' Representative. SIR PATRICK HENNESSY has now filled the vacancy in the representation of the Commercial Vehicle Section caused by the resignation of MR. J. D. PARKES. The acceptance of MR. H. E. GIBBON (president) and MR. T. CORRIE, both of the S.M.T.A., to the Council was agreed.

MR. D. D. GRANT has been appointed information officer to the S,M.M.T., and one of his tasks will be to act as a link oetween the Society and the Press. Ma. A. E. MASH, OBE., who joined the S.M.M.T. in November, 1945, as assistant exhibition manager, has left it to become chief public relations officer to Rootes, Ltd. During the war he was Director of Public Relations for the Ministry of Aircraft Production. MR. H. B. HICKS has been appointed Editor of the Society's "Monthly Progress Report."
