The sctipe of the book remains as before, but it has been revised to bring it up to date in regard to current conditions and manufacturers' production programmes, in addition to which it inbludes some Wholly new material. The first edition of this work was published in September, 1939; and, in the interval which has elapsed slime then, makers have stabilized their designs for • war conditions, so that the second edition of the Manual will be of topical value So long as the war lasts and pos
sibly for some period later.
There are three definite parts to the book, and an appendix which includes articles on engine calculations, comparisons of electricity costs, and the determination of engine-speed categories. A feature of the appendix is a complete list of operating costs for oilengined road vehicles of all types, and the book concludes with three pages of important facts and figures useful to all those who are connected with oilengine operation.
