Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE special Dennis.municipal vehicle shown ;in the accompanying illustration has recently been supplied to .Seaton Valley Urban District Council. The town lies in the Newcastle district of Northumberland and has a •popula tion of some 27,000. The machine is intended for the collection of either refuse or nigh tsoil.

The basis of the vehicle is a standard Del-Vs forward-control m u nicipal chassis, and the wheelbase is 9 ft. 6 ins„ Which permits easy manceuvrability in confined spaces. The superstructure is of the enclosed type and Oat body has a capacity of 15 cubic yds.

There are three shutters along each side, which enclose the loading apertures and, in addition, the upper part of the _tailboard can.be raised into a

horizontal position, being supported by struts. Thus, in narrow thoroughfares, loading can be carried out at the rear, the operation being facilitated by the provision of a step, which is detachable, so that it does not impede unloading. In the course of this operation, the rear door is automatically opened. The clamps which secure it are first slacked off and tten, as the twin three-stage hydraulic rams raise the body, cables attached to the chassis frame at each. side raise the door a's tippingproceeth'..

The conveyance of, nigh tsoll in buckets is made possible by the provision of a rubber sealing ring, which, in conjunction with the securing clamps, provides a watertight joint for the tailboard.
