He oeen associated with the develop-aent of gas-producer equipment since 1910, having had considerable experience with the production of various electrical and Mechanical plants.

M. ROBERT LOWE has joined the hoard of directors of Enness Sentinel, Ltd., as technical director. He was previously managing director of Gas Producers (Bellay), Ltd., and has had considerable, experience with the. application of gas-producer plants to trans-, port N-rehicles, specializing, particularly. in municipal developments. He will advise the coMpany on the. future development -of its gas producer, as applied to commercial transport and other usages. He has written a number of papers an applying the gai producer for transport purposes and was awarded the Gold _Medal of the Junior Institution of Engineers for a sufvey of gasproducer employment in thisAirection.

MR.. FRANI< THOMPSON, whose portrait appears on this page, commenced his transport career in 1901 with the Midland Railway Co. After 19 years he resigned his position of station " inspector and started in road.fiansport. He was appointed traffic superintendent in the Nottingham district of the.Trent Traction Co., and then was, for a period, with United Automobile Services, Ltd., in Durham. He now occupies the position of transport manager with the progressive concern of Town Tailors, Ltd., of Leeds, and is sub-district manager under the Ministry of Transport Emergency Defence Scheme for Leeds 'and district, which includesno fewer than 38 groups of operators. Mr. Thompson is particularly active as a member of the Council of the Federation of Yorkshire Road Transport Employers and has presided at a number of members' general meetings, and was recently elected chairman of meetings,
