LAST week Lord Nnffield inaugurated an appeal for the creation of a motor-trade memorial•to the late Li:rd. Austin, and started the fund with a tersonal contribution of £1,000, Which was immediately backed by. a similar stun from the Austin Motor Co„ Ltd. Lord Ruffield feels that, in view of Lord Austin's outstanding services to the cause of the motor industry gnd his brilliant achievernents as an engineer, it evould be a grave omission if a prominent and lasting memorial were not brought into being. The ultimate form of this must depend, .to some extent, upon the amount subscribed, but it is hoped that not on137 those actually in the motor trade and assciCiated industries will wish to contribute, but also the many who were introduced to 'motoring for the first time by the " Baby Austin." .Contributions, which will be gratefully acknowledged, should be addressed to The Viscount Nuffield. Morris Motors, Ltd., Cowley. Oxford.
