A.R.O. CONVENES MEETINGS ON P.S.V. TRANSPORT

OPEN meetings of public -service V./vehicle operators are being convened by the Yorkshire Area of A.R.O. in. various parts of the comity, to discuss the policy which the Transport Commissioner for the North-eastern Region has laid down for safeguarding workers' transport facilities, and at the

same time economizing on other services.

With the object of promoting co-operation between the different classes of p.s.v. operator in the application of the policy, A.R.O. 'a Yorkshire Area Passenger Sectional Board has instructed Mr. W. jeLowe (area secretary) to invite municipal passenger-. transport undertakings and the large associated bus companies to take part, with independent operators, in discussions at the meetings.

Tare was a unanimous opinion at the Sectional Board's meeting last week that late buses should be curtailed, except where they are necessary for the transport of workpeople. The idea bf reducing Sunday services was also strongly endorsed, particularly from the point of view of giving drivers more rest from the strain of driving in the winter black-out.
