• Wheelbase Engineering has completed an unusual low-height tipping tanker trailer for chemical manufacturer Hickson Manm for transporting heavy detergent paste.
Its tank, a demountable 23,382litre Spanish-made Indox vessel with on-board generator or mains heating, is carried on a 10.67m stepped tri-axle trailer.
The rear of the mainframe is shaped to accept the tipping hinge box. Tyre equipment is twin 265/75 R19.5s on steel rims. Because of the product's viscosity, the 6.1m tank is pressurised using a Geo Meller compressor to 2bar (30psi).
Only after elevating on the four-stage Hyva ram will the paste-like material discharge through the full bore valve and 100mm diameter outlet.
Drawn by a MAN 17.372FT 4x2 tractor, the outfit will operate across the UK and Europe carrying 22 tonne loads of highly viscous products maintained at
