Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I read ''Class III laws being broken" (CM March 25) and feel readers may be interested in the following: ' I have a son who applied for entry into the Young Drivers' Training Scheme in February 1976, and was accepted in May 1976 by the RTITB at Wembley for training at ARTIC at Aberdeen at around the end of June 1976. But when.ARTIC applied for his hgv Class III licence appropriate to his age, then 19, they were told by the Department of Environment that he was not entitled to it as he had had an endorsement six months previously for driving without due care and attention.

I tried very unsuccessfully for the past eight months and have got no joy. Then with having all this correspondence I forgot to apply for his Class III licence before December 31, phoned on January 5 1977 but was told I was too late and to apply for a list.

I would like to have your comments and to know if it is at all possible to still get my son through his Class III test before he either leaves the trade or has to wait till he; 21 years of age. A. STEVEN Wick, Caithness.
