Dennis Motorcabs.

Large numbers of Dennis lendsolets have been used, for some years, in private-hire work.

"Provincial" Developments.

The Provincial Motor Cab Company has concluded arrangements with Cook's Tourist organisation whereby that company's vehicles will be exeltisively at the disposal of clients of the worid-famed excursion organisers in the nia:y districts where its garages are already estaliFslied.

During the coming holiday season, the Provincial Motor Cab Company will increase its fleets in the seaside towns. in which it already runs services. by drafting some of its vehicles from inland districts. These additional vehicles will he used for nrivatehire work. and will principally fulfil orders re:Fry t-lephon. Austin Taxicabs.

Mr. Mark liriant, of Ifimrnerrouth, who is one of the largest Sauth Coast jobmasters, recently decided to add motoreabs to his stock, and. a:ter much deliberation. he decided upon Austins. The one illustrated herewith is the first of six on order, and it was last week driven from the tongbridge Works. Northfield, near Birmingham.

This four-cylinder cab is compactly and substantially built, and is well suited for either town or country use. The chassis is one of the typo illustrated by us on the 8th instant.

A Steam Taxicab.

Messrs. Pearson and Cox, of Shortlands, Kent, are building steam chassis, for hackney-carriage pUrpOSCS, iv i th 12h -p., three-cylinder, vertical engines. The outward appearance fol lows petrol lines, and o control is to be attempted. 1t is reported that an order for 23 taxicabs has been received.

No Licenses at Westonsuper-Mare.

The Weston-super-Mare has resolved not to license any motorcabs to ply for hire within its area for a vcriod of twelve months from the 14th instant, notwithstanding the fact that a local resident, Mr. R. J. Dart, odered to make arrangements to put 1.0 first-class taximeter cabs on the road at once. The result will probably be the working of a number of motorcabs front private yards.

The current traffic returns of the Ceneral Motor Cab Company are sent to us as follow:—

Total receipts from 1st August, 1908, £503,812.

It should be noted that the above figures take no account of the average number of cabs in service for the respective periods.
