Double trouble
• Truck drivers fare twice as badly as motorists when it comes to roadside facilities, says FTA Scottish regional director Bob Armstrong.
Permits scrapped.

Ratcliff blow
• Tail-lift maker Ratcliff is shutting its Northampton factory from 12 April. Its two other plants, at Leeds and Welwyn Garden City will continue.
Fewer trucks
• HGV traffic fell by 4% last year compared with 1989, says the DTp.
Test harmony
• EC Transport Ministers will discuss harmonising HGV driving tests throughout Europe when they meet in Brussels next week.
Animal rights
• The RSPCA is running a new set of newspaper adverts in its campaign to outlaw the long-distance haulage of livestock across Europe to abattoirs.
Soldiering on
