Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The long-suffering Ford Transit remains the favourite target of British thieves, according to police figures.

More than 6,000 Transit vans were stolen and never traced in the first six months of 1995 corresponding to roughly a fifth of Ford's total Transit sales over the period.

London suffered most from Transit thieves with over 1,260 missing from January to the end of June throughout the capital, according to a confidential document compiled by the Metropolitan police. Greater Manchester lost 585 vehicles, the West Midlands 414, Northumberland 361 and Kent lost 262.

Around 75% of those lost are vehicles over three-years-old, with just five per cent being under a year.
