Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Nottinghamshire-based UCI Logistics has asked the Freight Transport Association to check its tacho records after the Transport and General Workers Union accused it of flouting drivers' hours regulations.

The FTA is checking a month's worth of UCI's records to confirm managing director lan Veitch's claim that drivers at the company's Findern depot near Derby are not working in their breaks.

UCI clashed with the TGWU two weeks ago when the union claimed it had received documentary evidence that Findern drivers on a contract involving the Toyota car assembly plant at Burnaston were regularly working through their breaks.

"We feel the allegations are complete rubbish," says Veitch, "and we thought one way of making the point was to have a third party take a look at a month's records."

UCI Logistics comprises Robsons, Hudson Shepherd Transport and Thompson Jewitt International. It operates 350 vehicles from 22 UK depots.
