• Falling rates and declining business has forced SouthWest haulier Wheeler and Son to halve its fleet and workforce.
Already eight workers have left the Bridgwater-based company and six tractive units and seven trailers have been put up for auction.
Managing director Bob Wheeler says: "There is so litle work in the South-West and rates have been dropping. It is not worth running our entire fleet—and if things do not improve we may have to dispose of the rest."
