• A Yorkshire chemical recycling firm is looking for a haulier to move about 2,500 sealed drums of toxic waste from the village of Wath-onDearne to a UK port or rail freight depot. Negotiations are under way to secure a licence to ship the consignment back to the US. A transport agreement should be reached in the next six weeks.
Wath Recycling has been involved in a major row involving British Rail, the Health and Safety Executive and US chemicals company FMC Corporation over the transportation by road of a consignment of the waste. It had been freighted from the US before being taken to the Wath plant from the BR Stotuton freight depot in Leeds.
Waste handling specialist Waste Management has been called to the Wrath plant.
