Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE WORDING of newspaper advertisements for operator licensing applications could be changed soon.

This has emerged even before the Department of Transport Completes its consultation with the transport industry and other interest -groups on the effects of the first year's Operation of environmental factors in 0licensing rules.

It is likely that future advertisements will specify whether an operator is renewing, varying or making a first application for an 0-licence, and what rights of representation exist for residents. If these. changes are introduced, it will go sonic way towards meeting the changes which the Freight Transport Association and Road Haulage Association have asked for in the review.

Both associations have argued that operating centres should be considered to he environmentally acceptable on a once-and-for-all basis.

And they have renewed their demand that, if a transport operator gains planning permission to develop a green field site, that permission should be protected from refusal by a Licensing Authority.
