THE FORTUNES of the Hestair parent company of both Duple and Dennis have improved with the news that the group's loss of £107,000 during the second half of last year has been 61rned into a profit of £1.24 million for the first half of this year.
Hestair is confident that the reorganisation of HestairDennis into Dennisx Specialist Vehicles at Guildford and the introduction of the production versions of the Duple Integral 425 and new 300-Series coaches at Blackpool will put bus and coach building opera
dons on a sound financial footing.
Duple is aware that regular model changes during the past few years have not helped generate customer confidence, but it points out that the new body-on-chassis models will prove particularly cost-effective to operate and build.
They arc also unusual in that they meet proposed ECE safi..ty requirements.
The 300-Series is expected to remain in production for at least five years, the company said last week.
