NEW non-hgv 4x4 rigid, ;ing 100 per cent Bedford amponents is to be marketed y USG of Portsmouth, a iember of the Wincanton roup.
USG has converted the edford ME model to all-wheel rive without using any -unatalogued parts. Particular :tendon was paid to steering ngle and load height, items iten criticised in other 4x4s. The front axle of the USG ath Finder is basically a Bed)rd rear axle engineered to „lit a steer/drive application. Removal of the spring elper units permits the hide to comply with a downated plating certificate of .38 tons. The resultant chassis height is stated as being 94cm to I m (37in to 40in) depending on wheels used — the ME features two wheel sizes — while a 32° steering angle gives the short 3.43m (135in) wheelbase model a wall-to-wall turning circle of 14.9m (49ft).
A standard four-speed gearbox is used driving to a standard M-type transfer box with a 2 to 1 reduction for four-wheel-drive application.
'No Spin', the Detroit Automotive diff lock, is also included.
An unladen weight of 2972kg (2.93 tons) allows a useful margin of 4530kg (4.46 tons) for the addition of the body and payload.
