A spacious room with a good view and a comfortable bed — thi ngsadriver likeswhen he'sa long way from home. He's got them in the luxurious Marathon sleeper tilt cab.
Of steel construction, with its own suspension; it's safe, high and comfortably roomy. It's warm or cool as the climate demands, with big capacity heaters and air vents. The ventilation and demisti ng system complies with the most stringent regulations in the world. The floor to roof saloon-car trim provides both temperature and sound insulation, keeping the noise level comfortably low.
The deep curved one-piece windscreen provides superb vision with sun visors to stop glare. Easy access without stooping is through deep, wide 90° opening doors.
A non-sleeper two man cab is standard, but the flat floor allows a third seat to be fitted if required. The sleeper version includes two extremely comfortable sleeping berths.
There's plenty of room for storage, with hanging space, lockers under the seats, a lockable compartment in the fascia, a large na rr.PI tray and a document shelf
Controls at the fingertips.
Driving Marathon is effortless for such a tough truck. Ergonomically designed controls and instruments are comfortably within reach and directly in front of the driver. The full spread of instruments are grouped into the anti-glare fascia for easy day or night reading. Electrical switches come easily to the fingertips without removing the hand from the steering wheel through stalk mounted multipurpose controls on the steering column which operate direction indicators, horn. dip switch and windscreen wiper with flick wipe facility. An electric windscreen wash is fitted and a cigar lighter and shaver point look after creature comforts.
5-way comfort.
The driver's suspension seat is adjustable forwards, backwards, up, down and rake and is the last word in comfort. Vibration absorbing, it suits every build of driver and meets his personal likes and dislikes about his driving position.
The luxurious upholstery has brushed nylon non-sweat panels. A mate's seat is availabk similarly upholstered and fitt with hinged arm rests and he rest.

Leyland hub-reduction drive axle.
Marathon has the world famous Leyland hub-reduction drive axle. This immensely tough high performance axle has needle roller bearings on the hub epicyclic gears and several other new features which increase durability to a level which no other truck can match. A cross axle differential lock is standard. Ground load options of 10,11 or 13 ton are available.
Massive braking power.
Marathon is designed for safety. Powerful direct acting dual circuit air brakes with generous brake lining areas provide immense stopping power. Fail safe spring actuated park brakes operate on both axles and a sensing device provides balanced braking under all load conditions. An exhaust brake fitted as standard provides an extra measure of safety, keeps brakes cool on steep descents.greatly extends lining life and reduces maintenance.

The twin countershaft range change gearbox provides a carefully stepped gear pattern which gives you the best from the engine for road and traffic conditions.
Immensely strong lightweight frame.
The high tensile steel frame is a big factor in Marathon's unmatched performance. Of ladder design, with all-bolted construction, it is cranked out at the front end to provide plenty of space around the engine and to accommodate the very large radiator. Here is a tough chassis which will take continuous maximum capacity operatior without complaining, and make a contribution to payload and profitability into the bargain.
Reliable taper leaf suspension.
Leyland engineers have designed a superb new suspension with low weight taper leaf springs and telescopic shock absorbers at front and rear. Now you can really have safety.a comfortable ride and stability under laden or unladen conditions.The springs are shackle pin located at the front with open slipper pads at the rear ends and provide a system which is immensely durable and easy to maintain.
