MR. F. BRIGGS has succeeded the late MR. J. N. FORSTER as London region sales manager of Pirelli, Ltd. Mr. Briggs joined the Pirelli company in 1937.

ARTHUR KEATS is to retire and relinquish his B.M.C. directorship and his posts as chairman and managing director of Fisher and Ludlow. Ltd.. whom he has served for over 40 years. Sir Leonard is to succeed him as head of Fisher and Ludlow, and MR. E. PRICE, special director and chief accountant, is appointed deputy chairman of that company. MR. H. W. SANSU m has been appointed assistant sales manager of E.R.F., Ltd. He was formerly sales and service manager of the vehicle division of Sentinel (Shrewsbury), Ltd.

MR. R. A. FEARNLEY was last week elected president of the Municipal Passenger Transport Association for 1956-57. He is general manager at Coventry. ALD. J. H. WHITAK ER. chairman of Todrnorden Transport Committee, is the new vice-president. Mr. E. R. L. FITZPAYNE, general manager, Glasgow, was re-elected treasurer.

ILK. SIGNS INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORT CONVENTIONS rUSTOMS conventions on the temporary importation of goods vehicles and containers, and a convention on the taxation of road vehicles used privately for the carriage of international traffic, have been signed by the United Kingdom and a number of Continental countries.

Other parties to the Customs conventions are Austria, Belgium, Federal Republic ot Germany, France, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and Switzerland.

With the exception of the German Federal Republic, Hungary, Italy and Switzerland, these countries, together with Finland and Yugoslavia, were also parties to the taxation convention.

The United Kingdom has not, so far, signed a convention on the contract for the international carriage of goods by road, to which Austria, Belgium, the German Federal Republic, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland and Yugoslavia have agreed.

All signings are subject to ratification by the governments concerned. A convention enters into force after ratification by any five countries.

The conventions were prepared by working parties of the inland transport committee of the United Nations F.conoinic Commission for Europe..
