The new prime movers introduced last week are cheaper than former Commer tractors. The 12-ton unit, complete with cab, two-speed axle and S.A.E./S.M.M.T. coupling retails at £1,770, plus £372 13s. 11d, purchase tax, and the 10-ton tractor with Scanamell coupling sells at £1,545, plus £316 4s. 4d. tax.
Power-assisted steering is priced at £80, plus £20 tax, and air-assisted brakes on the Commer 7-ton oiler and tractors increase the price by £52 10s. with a further £13 2s. 6d. tax.
Slightly higher prices are quoted for the latest Avenger oil-engined passenger chassis, which now sells for £1,575, plus £382 Os. 2d. tax. The Karrier Bantam petrol-engined tractor is £730, with an additional £143 13s. 4d. purchase tax.
