Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AMONG the largest commercialvehicles bodies ever produced by I3onallack and Sons, Ltd., Cable Street, London, El, are 30 light-alloy dropsided bodies for Brazil. Based on A.E.C. Mammoth Major eight-wheeled chassis, they are 31 ft. 81 ins. long, 8 ft. 6+ ins, wide and the capacity of the vehicles is 20 tons. Although extremely robust and built to stand up to the

hardest duties, the bodies weigh 21 cwt., striking example of the value of lightalloy construction.

An attractive cab of modern appearance is another feature of the vehicles, the order for which was obtained by A.C.V. Sales, Ltd. The cab is of steel construction and can he divided at the waist line for shipment. Doubleskinned throughout, and insulated with lsoftex, it has a recessed windscreen, both panels of which are hinged at the lop for ventilation purposes. The cab quarter lights are hinged on their forward edges for the same reason.

The framing of the body is composed of heat-treated extruded-aluminiumalloy sections. It is riveted throughout, and is gusseted and braced by alloy and steel brackets. There are three drop panels on each side, framed in angle and channel sections and panelled with corrugated sections, as is the front head board. The tailboiard consists • of Dekaloy flooring and panelled externally with 20-gauge alloy. sheets. The two pillats on each side, to which the drop sides are secured when .raised, are particularly robust. Strength has been achieved by building up the pillars frorn angle sections placed back to back with a deep root, reinforced by a steel plate flitched between the pillar and the body cross-bearer.

The floor consists of Dekatoy Mk. 1 sections with hardwood inserts laid en Bonallack lipped channel bearers. It is Mounted on the chassis by the four-waybracing system developed by the concern, riveted by the cold-squeeze process and secured by bolts and clench plates through extruded locking sockets.
