SEVERAL usaful features are embodied in a now design of half-drop window produced by Rawlings Manufacturing Co., Ltd., 1-29, Larch Road, London, S.W.12. Mounted upon the top edge of the lower _window is the operating shaft and winding. mechan ism contained within. a casing extending the full length of the window, The operation is by means of a worm gear, which rotates a shaft having on each end a pinion that engages with racks formed on the vertical frames of the upper window. The window . slides :in rattle-proof chrome-leather lined guides, and the movement is smooth and bas a -marked freedom from snatch. • • The winding handle is situated in the centre of the top frame of the lower window,. but may.-be offset if desired. It is fitted with a device to . prevent damage occurring from accidental overwinding in either direction. Within the handle is contained • a springloaded dog clutch, so that should the winding of the handle be continued alter reaching the end of the window's travel, the clutch comes into operation and the handle slips.
