I was sorry to read in last week's CM that the education and training series is coming to an end. I realise it was meant as a appetiser for the beginning of the new transport education team, but I am certain it has whetted enough appetites to encourage you to continue with it, perhaps early next year.

I hope the Simple Mechanics series is not to be brought to an end too soon; I find it fascinating and I am the chief engineer of a large fleet. Many simple little things learned long ago and now discarded are recalled to mind. It should prove invaluable for young apprentices. It may even assist the men in the traffic, office to understand their workshop colleagues a little better. I hope you intend to publish the series in book form; it would be a must on my bookshelf.

FLEET ENGINEER, KENT. (Name and address supplied)
