Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

biuuetkvtCKt am sitting at home reading this week's CM back to front as usual and at last have read your editorial; I must comment!

have two Leyland Boxers 1600, both very good in design, payload, driveability, etc, but they are a bit rattley and have silly little failures.

I halso have a Clydesdale — at first sight it is a better job, but it is littered with design faults. The chassis is too high by 4in — try jumping up onto the platform on hand-baling loads on roof. It has a lousy gearbox for local work, and the wheelbase is too long for the body length, so the manoeuvrability is poor. However, the driver likes it with its faults.

But the rear crankshaft oil seal failed on the 401 engine twice. So, I decided to modify it

and rang up Preston and op for the crankcase to manifol, link to create a vacuum; so f so good.

Four weeks later I had nit of the parts and a bill for £51 odd for 6in of 1/2in pipe and couple of flanges — say £5 worth. So I rang my distribu He agreed that it looked excessive, but the computer confirmed the prices so he rt Chorley parts. They were on strike, so a week later, I ranc but the person was unavailable"; would I writE So I rang Harrogate: "Oh yes, Sir, I will investigate immediately!" Two weeks la I took the parts back and did better job for £2.50 in parts; and my distributor wants 10 per cent handling charge.

There must be car men in Truck and Bus! Soon it will b the Leyland joke to replace if Irish. Perhaps you can sham; them into action. There are good people in there somewhere, but where? If th company is to die, let it die quickly lest we all die with it.

I will buy Seddon Atkin so' or foreign next time. I am fed up with paying for the truck once and then twice with the profits if any, we make on them, via D. Healey, Esq. WILLIAM B. BROUGHALL Chester,

PS: I congratulate you on the technical sense and completE logic of your magazine; man} other trade and hobby magazines from Which? through Autocar to Farmer's Weekly could learn a lot from your example.
