Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

r-V A DRILL stand which attaches itself by magnetism .to any ferrous surface being drilled is manufactured by Magco, Ltd., Portchester, Hants. It is known as the Magcodrill and consists of a rectangular electro-magnet which forms the base plate for a stand which will accommodate air or electric drills.

The unit is placed roughly in position on the workpiece and plugged into a mains electricity supply. A weak Magnetic field is then induced by a rheostat control. This clamps the stand to the surface, but permits it to be moved about for accurate alignment. When this is achieved the rheostat is turned to full power to hold the drill securely. The smallest model, known as the M.D.2 and suitable for drills up to in., costs £45.

Durable Shelter

THREE types of bus shelter manufac

tured by Sheepbridge Equipment, Ltd., Chesterfield, cater for urban, suburban and rural applications. They range from a. simple structure supported on one side only to a fully enclosed model.

All thvee are constructed from 3-ft.wide interchangeable sections produced either entirely in plastics or from plastics panels on a steel frame. Windows are incorporated and the plastics is impregnated with colour.. The light weight of both types of structure makes the shelters easy to erect and they are resistant to corrosion and require negligible maintenance,

Breathing Plastics

rAA CRITICISM sometimes levelled at plastics upholstery Materials concerns their non-absorptive characteristics in hot weather because they are naturally impervious. A new P.Y.C.-coated material offered by Bernard Wardle (Everflex), Ltd., Peblig Mill, Caernarvon, should not be subject to this complaint. The P.V.C. overlay on a fabric backing is extensivelyperforated with small oval holes. Thus, the material has the " breathing " characteristics of textiles whilst the plastics protects the fabric from wear.

Unbalance Indicated

AN Italian balancing Machine for AN crankshafts and similar components is now available in this country from Ed-Ward G. Herbert, Ltd., Atlas Works, Levenshulmc, Manchester, 19. The machine gives a direct reading on two meters, the readings being transferred to a • calculator which indicates both the amount of unbalance present and its angular location.

The model K.600 equipment can handle components up to 3 ft. 4 in. in diameter and 6 ft. 8 in. long weighing' from 6-600 lb, Other balancing machines in the standard range will deal with items weighing from 1 oz. to 10 lb.

Bodywork Reviver

ACLEANING fluid for bodywork which will remove grease, carbon deposits, tar, cement and tarnish arising from polluted atmospheres in addition to normal dirt is produced by T. R. Bonnyman Son and Co., Ltd., Inchcape Chemical Works, 121 Millerfield Road, Glasgow, S.E. The fluid, known as S.D.2, and applied in a dilution of one part to eight parts of water, is said to clean cellulose, lacquer, lettering or transfers without bleaching or damaging the finish.

The diluted cleaner is applied by brush or spray and left for 15-20 minutes. The surface is then brushed over and hosed off with water. A side effect of the S.D.2 treatment is that it gives protection against corrosion to unpainted metal fittings whilst minimizing the effects of atmospheric attack on painted surfaces.

Torque Control

AXIMUM torque of over 600 lb.-ft. IVI can be applied by the CP.610. airpowered wrench manufactured by the C:onsolidated Pneumatic Tool Co., Ltd., 232 Dawes' Road, London, S.W.6. Torque control mechanism is fitted to the tool and this permits the required force to be pre-set. power cut-off being automatic when this is reached. The wrcrich, which weighs 23 lb. and is 1 ft. 4t in. 'long, is available with splined or conventional square-drive heads.

Blown Up

. CUEL-INJECTION equipment reconI ditioners might find the Ellisviewer illuminated magnifier Unit of interest. It is manufactured by the Ellis Optical Co., Mayday Road, Thornton Heath, Surrey. and costs £18.

The viewer consists of a base-mounted pedestal carrying a hood containing two light bulbs and a 5-in.-diameter lens. The lens provides 21 times magnification and can be adjusted for height and correct focus. It can also be tilted to any angle.

Light is automatically directed on to the spot at which the lens is aimed.

Stylish Discs

VVHAT is thought to be the only stainless steel wheel disc for heavy vehicles manufactured in quantity in Europe has been introduced by • K. F. Ward, Ltd.. Garrison Street. Birmingham, 9.

The attractive disc, which was fitted to several coaches at Earls Court, has cooling slots around its periphery and does not hamper tyre inflation. It is attached by a central bolt and brackets whiCh prevent it rotating. This design can be supplied also in bright light alloy.

Spray Nozzle

A VARIABLE spray nozzle for vehicle t. washing, produced by Meynell and Sons, Ltd., Montrose Street, Wolverhampton,. is controlled by a trigger. Light pressure on this produces mist whilst increasing pressure gives light or heavy spray and, finally, a solid stream of water. The flow of water is cut off when the trigger is released and this can considerably reduce water consumption compared with the use of normal tapcontrolled washing equipment. the manufacturers claim.
