NORTHERN AREA . Ont. (8 tons 3 cwt.) of two articulated outfits (14 tons 17 cwt.) bought by H. L. Walker, Ltd., Britannia Garage, Britannia Street, Thornaby-on-Tees, has now been assigned to Messrs. E. and R. Proud, 3 Tudhoe Lane. Tudhoe Colliery.

Messrs. T. W. Nixon and Sons, 5 Craw. hail, Brampton, have taken over a lorry (3 tons) from Northern (Allied) Transport and Trading Co., Melkinthorpe, and Mr. G. T. Bright, 153 Walker Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, one (3 tons 19 cwt.) from Mr. F. Dodds, 2 Stakeford Road, Bedlington.

NORTH-WEST Allisons Transport (Contracts). Ltd., 119 Clepington Road, Dundee, have taken over another six lorries based in Liverpool. Three (161 tons) were assigned by Mr. R. Heath. 3 Westfield Grove. Wakefield; two (If tons) by Mr. S. Hughes, Leeds Road, Mirfield; and one (3 tons) by Mr. T. J. Hughes,' 204 Dick Lane, Bradford.

Mr. V. S. Palmer, 4 Beaver Road, Manchester. 20, has made over two Lorries (6 tons) to Woodcocks Transport (Chorley), Ltd., Park Road Garage, Heskin, Chorley.

Mr. H. Finney, 2 . Avondale Street, Standish. near Wigan, has had a lorry (21 tons) made over to him by Mr. W. Robinson, address not known; and Mr. E. Weston, 17 East Avenue, Hague Estate, Stalybridge, an articulated outfit (71 tons) by Mr. L. Gleave, Holly Bank, Aucilem, near Crewe.

Sheffield; one to Savill Transport Co., Ltd., Parsonage Garage. Mickletown. near Leeds'!' one to R. Riley and Son, Ltd.' 50 Dovereourt Road, Sheffield, 2; one to Mr. J. Smith, Beechurst, Top Road. Calow, Chesterfield; one to Mr. G. A. JacqueS, Westwoodwise, Doncaster; and one to Acicworth Transport Co., Ltd., Wakefield Road, Ackworth.

Ackworth Transport have transferred lorry to each of the following: Harrisons of Dewsbury, Ltd., Bradford Road, Dewsbury; J. Durrell (Transport), Ltd., 2 Lichfield Road. Doncaster; and J. Atkinson and Sons, Ltd., 400 Broadside Lane, Sheffield, 9.

Lanes: WEST MIDLANDS Mr. Sam Anderson, Wilson Road Garage, Newhouse, Motherwell,. has been granted a special A licence for six lorries a22 (321 tons) based at Langley. As reported on page 321, the West Midland Licensing Authority has refused to grant to Mr. Anderson a special A licence for eight lorries.

Three lorries (9.2 tons) have been taken over by Mr. G. A. P. Matthews, the Meadows, Bromyard Road, Worcester, in a first purchase. Another first purchase is that of a lorry (3 tons) by Walker Bros.. (Transport), Ltd., Wharf Street, Hockley, Birmingham, 18.

A special A licence for another three lorries (221 tons) has been granted to Henry Poole and Son, 21-27 Hunter's Road, Hoekley, Birmingham, 19. These have now been transferred to Murphy Bros., Ltd.. Thurmaston, Leics..

Mr. N. Beech, Hope Street, Hanley, has assigned more vehicles. One (7 tons) has gone to Messrs. Aldridge Transport, Stubber's Green, Aldridge, and one (7 tons) to Messrs. Hurripherston Bros., Now House Farm. Kingsbury, near Tamworth.

Mr. T. J. Richardson, 100 Dudley Road East, Oldbury, has sold a lorry (31 tons) to Mr. W. R. Jones, Glendower, Stanwardine, 13aschurch, and one (31 tons) so Mr. E. E. Owen, I New Road, Bignall End. Stoke-on-Trent.

Ashmore's (Auto Engineers), Ltd., Roebuck Lane, West Bromwich. who have also had a special A licence refused (page 321), have transferred a lorry (31 tons) taken over from Alfreton Transport Co., Ltd., Meadow Lane, Alfreton, to Lewcar, Ltd.. Derby.

One (31 tons) of two lorries (7 tons) bought by P. J. Butler and Son, Ltd., 12 Joining's Bank, Langley, Oldbury, has been sold to Mr. H. Grainger, 56 Bentley Drive, Walsall.

The West Midland Licensing Authority has also authorized the assignment of a lorry (5 tons) to I. T. Phillips and Sons, Ltd., 64 Bath Road, Wolverhampton, by Messrs. J. A. N. EAST MIDLANDS A platform lorry (3 tons) based at Wyberton (unit 7335) has been taken over by Mr. G. C. Evison, Redbourne Road, ilibaldstow, near Bring. Townsends (Carriers), Ltd., 106 Washbrook Road, Rushden. have re-assigned one of the vehicles (I ton) they were reported last week to have taken over from Mr. J. Brindley, The Close, Shamford, near Hinckley, to F. Willis and Sons (Carriers), Ltd., Hardwick Road, Wellingborough.

Mr. W. It Butt, 85 Weedon Road, Northampton, has transferred four lorries (11 tons 18 cwt.) and four containers (8 tons) to S. T. Challis, Ltd,, Pat tishall, Toweester ; and two lorries (5 tons 6 cwt.) and two containers (4 tons) to E. W. Watts (Haulage), Ltd., Bassetts Pole Garage, Sutton Coldfield.

S. T. Challis have also taken over a lorry (2 tons 18 cwt.) and a container (2 tons) from Mr. V. J. Grange, 124 Bridge Street, Peterborough.

EASTERN COUNTIES ' Five list 12 units based in London, comprising a total of 12 vehicles (271 tons), have been purchased by Mr. V. J. Grange, Peterborough, who has already made them over to other operators. Three of the units, 8089, 7853 and 7848, were at Finsbury, one (7834) at Perivale, and one (7863) at Bethnal Green.

Other successful purchasers in this area are Mr. D. H. Durrant, Steeple Bumpstead, who has bought Cambridge unit 7438, comprising a Luton van (4 tons), and Mr. C. F. Harrison, Surfleet, Spalding, unit 7334 (Wyberton), a lorry (3 tons), WESTERN AREA.

Thirteen vehicles, including an articulated outfit (52 tons 2 cwt.), have been made over to A. D. Forsey (Transport), Ltd., Rickets Lane Works, Worlc, by Mr. A. D. Forsey and A. D. Forsey, Ltd.

SOUTHERN AREA Two new purchasers are Messrs. Woodley Transport, Reading, who have successfully -tendered for two lorries, and Mr. A. R. Meaden, Crichel, Winsbourne, one.

LONDON AND HOME COUNTIES Two Special Traffics units have been acquired by Blakes Wharfs, Ltd., Stevenage Road, London, S.W.6. They are Bermondsey unit 7205, comprising a van (3 tons), and Finsbury unit 8087, a van (2 tons).

Mr. J. H. Moore, 65 Oswald Road, Southall, has also tendered successfully.for two list 12 units, comprising an articulated vehicle (2 tons) and a van (t ton). The units were 8077 (Bermondsey) and 7137 (Aldgatc).

Stratford unit 7665 has gone to C. T. 011ey and Sons (Erith), Ltd., The Nursery, Slade Green, Erith. It comprised a tractor (5 tons) and 12-ton draw-bar low-loader.

Two-vehicle units have been purchased by Mr. W. F. Spendlow, 124 Vicarage Road, London, E.10 (Bermondsey unit 8081-3 tons), and Mr. T. W. Harris, 52 Stainton Road, Enfield (Newington Butts unit 7052-5 tons). All are vans.

Special A licences for direct purchases have been granted to: A. E. Bristow (Carriers), Ltd., 88a Amhurst Road, London, E.8, for a vehicle (19 cwt.); Mr.

C. J. Brown, Hill View, Priory Lane, Eynsford, one (31 tons); and Readers Haulage Co., Ltd., 320 Rainhain Road (South), Dagenham, two lorries (5 tons 1 cwt.) and two trailers.

Five lorries (13 tons 7 cwt.) have been assigned to Covent Garden Delivery Services, Ltd., Piazza Chambers, London, W.C.2, by Messrs. T.
