New Tecalemit Appliances which Simplify and Speed Up Servicing Operations

DU'

'G the past few years

Tecalemit, Ltd., Great West Road, lirentford, Middlesex, has been responsible for numerous innovations in respect of servicing equipment, more particularly in connection with the dispensing of lubricants. Its latest idea in this connection is the Tecalemit Pilot Pressure system, in which, by utilizing one electric motor, pressure can be obtained for up to eight dispensing points, which means that that number of different grades of oil can be handled with but one power plant. In the re p design of the motor and worm reduction-gear assembly, unit construction is adopted. Two or more units may be coupled up to it, each pumping unit being complete with itstr pilot pressure device, automatic-control

es and pump. In

valves order that the installation may be built up as requirements demand, the system is designed so that new units may be added without disturbing the existing plant.

So far as the operation of this new equipment is concerned, an installation in which three grades are to be dispensed may be taken. There would thus be three pumps driven simultaneously from the one motor unit. The pumping unit has a small pilot pressure device, which when charged with oil maintains a steady pressure on the delivery pipe line, and so soon as any one of the delivery valves is opened this pressure is released. As the pressure in the pilot falls an associated electrical pressure switch closes, and this, in turn, operates a motor-control contactor which starts the motor, which continues to run, the corresponding pump delivering oil for so long as may be required. The pumps which are being driven, but which are not called upon to deliver, by-pass the oil back into the storage tank. ‘Vhen the valve on the dispensing nozzle is closed, the motor continues to run for a few moments to restore the pressure in the pilot pressure device. When this is attained the pressure-operated switch opens arid the motor stops. Tecalemit, Ltd., is also responsible for a new type of vehicle washing plant, in which the machine is driven into a tunnel and bombarded with water from SO jets, the pressures from which are graded according to whether they be directed on the chassis parts or the body and wings. As the jets oscillate there is no question of any part of the vehicle being missed. Thereafter, a leather completes the work. In cases where a dozen or more vehicles have to be dealt with, it will not be difficult to appreciate what a time-saver such a washing system woukl be.
