Commercial Vehicles WE have often to admire the Essential for Mass vv outspoken articles appearMovement of Troops . ing in our associated journal,

The Aeroplane, and seldom do we cross swords with its expressions of opinion. In last week's issue, however, in dealing with the importance of troop transport, it says that "tile army which depends on its mechanical transport, whether wheeled vehicles or vehicles with tracks, is merely asking for trouble in any first-class war over open country." It supports this argument with a " story " concerning the movement of German troops by mechanical transport when Austria was being occupied, the breakdown of a tank or two completely holding up the advance. Better organization and the segregation of traffic into different classes and routes would surely have prevented the debacle. Don't you think so, Mr. Grey? Surely you have not forgotten so soon the part played

Imagine, however, having to drive a heavy vehicle for hours on end, with head lights glaring on to the white concrete of a German autobahn. Such is the effect on German drivers that, with the heavier types of vehicle, a driver and two relief drivers have to be carried. Our German informant said that when only one relief driver was carried there were many instances of both drivers falling asleep, with disastrous consequences.

Will Be More Than time" and the gradually Attention to Batteries WITH the end of "summer Repaid lengthening hours of darkness, . the call upon the battery becomes such, that those which are not in the pink of condition will tend to show signs of distress. If the general condition of a battery be doubtful, then the best policy is to replace it at once, as one failure of the lighting system may easily cost far more than would a new battery. If the battery be in good condition, the only attentions required are to maintain the level of the electrolyte and check th,e specific gravity. By the way, when making up battery liquid always add the acid to the water and not vice versa.
