A LORRY driver has helped police seize 40kg of what is believed to be heroin — with a street value of approximately £16m — after he became suspicious about a load he was transporting.
Hertfordshire Police said the driver called them out to his lorry in Works Road, Letchworth, at lpm on Thursday 14 November. The vehicle had stopped earlier in the day in east London. Hertfordshire Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Detective superintendent Peter Fulham said: "A significant quantity of [drugs have] been removed from criminal circulation and a team of officers are investigating who is responsible."
