The new dedicated van sale at British Car Auctions' (BOA) site in Glasgow is proving popular, with an upsurge in conversions as well as online activity.

Duncan Ward, BOA general manager, said the switch from holding a sale on a Thursday, where it followed a car sale earlier in the day, to a dedicated sale on a Friday followed research among the buyer base. Buyers were polled on whether a switch to Friday would suit their needs, which gained a positive response. As a result, BOA Glasgow has seen year-on-year conversion rates rise by 15%. "Buyers participating via BOA Live Online for the Friday LCV sale have also risen, with volumes sold to online bidders rising by around 6% both from local

Scottish buyers and from much further afield," he said.

The weekly sale at Royston Road starts at 10am, and BOA said there will be up to 200 vans going before the auctioneer from blue-chip vendors such as UK Car Group Remarketing, Lex Autolease, Black Horse, Arnold Clark Contract Hire, Royal Mail, police and local authorities. Ward said the sale is able to offer everything from car-derivedvans to long-wheelbase panel vans — and everything else in

between — which is important with the on-going shortage of used vans. The switch to Fridays also means stock offered in the LGV sale previously staged at

Glasgow has transferred to Belle Vue and Measham, freeing up operational resource to focus on the dedicated LCV sale.
