• Parcels delivery firm Business Post has returned interim pre-tax profits up 30% to £7.7 million on a 26% increased turnover of £38.4m.
The results for the six months ending 30 September also showed a rise in operating margins from 18,7% to 192%, and earnings per share increased 29% to 10.2 pence.
The company, set up by Peter and Michael Kane— recently placed joint 113th in the Sunday Times annual list of Britain's richest people—attribute much of the success to the continued growth of the parcels market.
It also says it is encouraged by the performance of its Courier Post mail services and the growth in European exports and inbound shipments of Euroad, its European service.
Business Post spent £2.9m on 16.8 acres of land in Birmingham to build its £4.2m national distribution hub and L300,000 on the development of its new 12m regional hub in Docklands, London.
