Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• .1 Derbyshire lorry driver involved in an accident in which a woman motorist was seriously injured has been banned from driving for three months.

Philip Brooks, of Manchester Road, Chapel Milton, denied driving without due care and attention but was convicted by the High Peak magistrates. In addition to the three-month ban, the magistrates fined Brooks .£250 and ordered him to pay £120 costs.

Prosecuting, Roger Exley said Anne Thompson had been driving her Volkswagen along the A6 in Dove Holes some way behind a JCR She indicated to turn right into the community centre when Brooks' lorry crashed into the back of her car, pinning it against a wall.

Miss Thompson suffered very serious injuries and was in the car for some time before the police and the fire brigade could cut her free, said Exley.

Thompson said the lorry had been very close behind her, so she started to slow and let the JCB get away. She then indicated to turn right and the lorry had followed.

Brooks said Thompson had braked and seemed to pull out in front of him. He had presumed that she had not seen him and that she was going to overtake. He had indicated to overtake when she put her indicator on and stopped, with the result that he ploughed into her car.

Exley said that Brooks had left no margin for error.
