4 Granada has put its chain of Welcome Break motorway service areas up for sale, but says more Granada-branded sites are being planned.
The media and leisure conglomerate must sell the Welcome Break chain by next April under the terms of an agreement reached with the Department of Trade and Industry in July, following Granada's takeover of Welcome Breakowner Forte.
The Office of Fair Trading had expressed concern that on some stretches of motorway Granada would be the only operator of service areas The takeover escaped referral to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission only when Granada agreed to sell 21 motorway service areas.
