The West German instrument anufacturer Moto Meter has }pointed Vehicle Control 'stems of Jarrow as importer id distributor for the United ngdom and Ireland. Moto ater is reputed to have about per cent of its home West Kman tachograph market and -eady sells into most other ropean countries.

Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen d Scania fit Moto Meter tachoaphs as original equipment. Moto Mpter's model for the and Ireland market is the Eupa, a manual two-man model. unusual feature is that it -iges open about one-third of .3 way up the face. This gives it wider opening angle (100deees) making it easier to insert d remove charts.

The lower, fixed portion conns the odometer and the two Pcle selector switches which 3 illuminated at night. An ad;table speed warning light is ;luded, as is a warning light to Jicate that a chart has not en inserted. The same chart that fits the Lucas Kienzle tachograph is also suitable for the Moto Meter.

Retailing at £125 (not including installation or calibration) it significantly undercuts the other tachographs. An electronic version which eliminates the need for a conventional drive cable should be available in the UK by next Spring.

The Moto Meter is currently available through about 120 official tachograph stations.

Vehicle Control Systems are at Unit 20, Royal Industrial Estate, Jarrow, Tyne and Wear NE32 3HR. Meanwhile, established tachograph market leader Lucas Kienzle has launched a finance arrangement for tachographs and such other products as its chart analysers, in conjunction with Bowmaker.

The scheme has been launched in readiness for the final dash to the December 31 deadline for tachograph use (vehicles must be ready for use with tachographs from midnight on December 30), and offers schemes for repayment up to three years.

As an example, Lucas says that a no deposit E250 installation charge would cost £2.20 a week over three years.
