Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

unit with a BTC Four-in-Line trailer, plated for 19 tons gross weight. We have put a van body on the trailer which with a full load now weighs approximately 14 tons. The trader gross weight is 171tons and the axle weight is 10 tons 17cyvt. Is this legal?

AYour semi-trailer appears perfectly legal as the axle and gross trailer weight are within the plated figures.

But it is also important that the weight of the whole outfit does not exceed the figure applied to the tractive unit for "gross train weight''. If this is 22 tons in the case of the Dodge you are legal with 171 tons for the trailer provided the kerb weight of the tractive unit including driver and all equipment does not exceed 4+ tons.
