Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Haldex Brake Systems (formerly Midland-Grau) has launched a hardware package, known as PC Interface 1, which will enable manufacturers and fleet operators to link and communicate with the new Modular ABS Series for trailers, using a PC or laptop.

This system incorporates features previously unavailable, enabling manufacturers to verify the functionality of installations on new vehicles easily and quickly. It will provide operators with on-board data storage and retrieval capability.

The interface unit will enable the use of bespoke software packages designed for the vehicle manufacturer (EOLT) and fleet operator (VDS). Using EOLT the manufacturer can carry out dynamic final tests on the ABS and related suspension components, thus eliminating time-consuming procedures with electrical meters and pressure gauges.

For the operator VDS offers the facility of storing and retrieving operation data, such as trailer and tyre history, or any related information which the owner requires, in a data storage area on-board the ABS ECU.

This data is created and modified by the vehicle technician as the trailer history changes, and can be processed using standard software applications such as Microsoft Excel v5.0 or Lotus 1-2-3 release 5.
