• Aberdeen-based Shore Porters' Society, which claims to be the oldest road transport firm in the world, expanded south last week with the acquisition of Middlesex-based removals firm Rumsey & Son.
SPS is a 40-vehicle removals, haulage and warehouse specialist founded in 1498. It expects to keep the name and staff of the Twickenham-based firm but might add the SPS livery to Rumsey's five vehicles.
