The first and last winner of the event, Lesley Smith, has decided that if she can't beat them she will join them. She has decided to enter CM's Lorry Driver of the Year Competition and is hoping for a place in the finals.
Mr Chris Thorneycroft Smith, marketing manager of DAF Trucks (GB), said that to discriminate between sexes at this level made a mockery of equal opportunities. However, men could well have entered and won the title "Lady Trucker" if they had wished.
